Recipe for happiness sounds like something a lot of people are looking for but hardly manage to find. I have been exploring it and looking for it myself. Countless Theta Healing courses, self-development books and trainings brought the enlightenment moment. Realising that the happiness comes from the inside and is unconditional was a light bulb moment too. We always put the limit to it, but it is limitless. There are aspects on the outside, which affect it, but at the end of the day we are the ones responsible for making the decision to be happy.
Healthy eating is part of the recipe for happiness. Even though we have to be nourished of the plate with our relationships, spirituality, physical activity and career, nourishment on the plate is also very important. Social media influences us to look the certain way or to eat the certain food. We create limits for ourselves by letting it all to affect us and to even make choices for us. I have been influenced to eat vegan, because everyone said it was the right thing to do. Because this choice didn’t come from my heart I couldn’t stick to it for more than 2 months.
Everyone knows that they should eat healthier, but not everyone has the courage to do so. The diet which feels forced and which do not nourish us, influences our mood, energy levels, relationships and of course our happiness. Once you start eating what you enjoy, you automatically start feeling much happier. Why do you feel much better after eating that bar of chocolate? The reason is, because it boosts your happiness hormone. Your body already knew what it needed to bring you back to alignment to happiness – chocolate, and that is what your body craved. It came from the inside and that is why it is very important to start listening to the needs of your body and to choose the food that your body is craving.
Physical activity is also very important for happiness and overall wellbeing. It reduces stress levels, improves mood, sleep, overall health and energy levels. Experiment with different styles to see what works best for you. Finding physical activity that you enjoy will keep you motivated, will boost your vitality and will make you feel good in your body. Try yoga, Pilates, martial arts, walking, running, swimming, dancing, or weight lifting. My favorite forms of exercise are yoga to calm my mind and to connect me to my body and weight lifting to build the body strength, focus and motivation.
One of the leading ingredients in the recipe for happiness is relationships. Having this ingredient out of balance is going to affect other areas as well. You might start experiencing unhealthy cravings, lose your motivation to train, meditate, will not be able to concentrate and give your hundred percent at work. Having people in your life who are going to support you and motivate you is very important. When relationships in our lives become conditional and we do not know how to function without them we lose ourselves as well as the happiness.
Focus on being in good terms with everyone especially your partner, family, coworkers and communicate with them regularly. People that you are still holding the grudge against, I am sure, have done something good for you as well. Concentrate on the good instead of their mistakes. Through my journey to discovering true happiness I have created true friendships, a team of my cheerleaders, who believe in my vision and support me no matter what decision I make. That is truly powerful. Create relationships, which are going to lift you up, not drag you down. Value them and enjoy the time you spend with your loved ones and that is the true nourishment for our soul.
